Baker & McKenzie Solicitors

Baker & McKenzie Solicitors Plan was commissioned by Baker & McKenzie to develop proposals for art interventions in the lobby of their building in New Bridge Street.

Client: Baker & McKenzie Solicitors
Artists: William Furlong, Jo Fairfax
Interior Designers: TTSP

The strategy for art was developed in collaboration with the Managing Partner and his team and the interior designers, TTSP. The notion for the strategy was firstly to provide an internal geography for the site – landmarks within the building as a form of way finding, and secondly to express the corporate values of the firm itself; these are, constancy, offering solutions and sharing knowledge.

Developing concepts with TTSP, we felt that these values could be captured in art through work that drew on the cycles within nature (constancy/reliability), light art (offering solutions) and audio (sharing knowledge). The artists Jo Fairfax and William Furlong submitted proposals using these ideas as a starting point.

Our relationship with TTSP endures, and we do CPD seminars with the firm to discuss the relevance of art in developing and forming workspaces.
