eat:art events
eat:art is plan's in-house corporate event production team, offering clients hospitality events that use art as a fundamental part of the overall concept.
Baker & McKenzie Solicitors
Plan works with Baker & McKenzie solicitors to organise 'eat:art' events for the partners. One event involved presentation of the works of four artists, Andrew Carnie, Graham Ellard & Stephen Johnstone, Yumi Kubo and Eric Shanes. The director of Plan, Ivan Tennant, conducted discussions about the works between each course of the dinner.
An exciting innovation on other eat:arts for the firm was the introduction of a competition to start the event. The guests were divided into teams of two people each, and asked to give their responses to the quizzical work of Andrew Carnie.
Answers were read out at the end of the event, and a prize awarded to the team who had come up with the most interesting and witty response.
The Financial Services Authority
Every three months, plan carries out an eat:art at the FSA. The first was in October 2003. Within the FSA, eat:art is a staff event that launches a two week exhibition of works of art the organisation is considering for purchase. It includes a debate about the works exhibited, a talk by an artist and a food reception.
The eat:art is the culmination of a programme of presentations made to the Art Steering Group at the FSA. It is specifically meant to introduce art works being considered for purchase to the wider community within the FSA and as such forms part of our mission to bring the art resolutely into the ‘life’ of the organisation.
The idea is that they are educational and fun, and give staff the opportunity to make their own comments about the works on display. These comments are fed back to the steering group and taken into account when deciding which works to purchase
